About VISUM

VISion Understanding and Machine intelligence - VISUM 2022 - is the tenth edition of a summer school focused on Computer Vision and Machine Learning. This edition is organised by INESC TEC, and will be an on-site event in the beautiful city of Porto, Portugal.

The courses, with both theoretical & practical sessions, will be conducted by world-renowned experts covering their research topics. Aside from the theoretical relevance of the lectures, the covered material will guide you in building your own AI system within a competitive challenge. The VISUM school aims to provide a stimulating learning opportunity for students, young researchers and professionals with interests in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. VISUM's target audience is therefore:

M.Sc. and Ph.D. students
Researchers and Post-doctoral scholars
Industry professionals with (research) interest in computer vision
... and anyone who wants to discover avant-garde topics

Those with previous contact with the introductory topics of Computer Vision and Machine Learning can expect to enhance their knowledge. Meanwhile, newcomers should see VISUM as an opportunity to get into one of today's most vibrant fields.

VISUM is a safe place for sharing knowledge about science and technology. Want to know more? Check out our Code of Conduct.

Venue
Porto is Portugal's second-largest city, European Best Destination in 2017, 2014, and 2012. Full of contrasts within a small area, Porto offers a diversity of styles and ambiances. In this city of great wine and long history, you will enjoy the famous baroque style monuments and the worldwide famous Port Wine cellars. With the World Heritage Douro Riverside on the background, the narrow and sinouous cobbled streets of this old and charming city contrast with the growing innovation, cutting edge technology, and technological startups that have made this city their home.

VISUM 2022 will take place at Crowne Plaza Porto. Located at Avenida da Boavista, one of the main avenues of the city, the four-star hotel offers top-class facilities for all events, from small meetings to large international conventions. One step away from the old cobbled downtown streets, the iconic riverside near Ponte D. Luís I, and the sunny beaches on the Atlantic ocean, this is the perfect place to stay when exploring Porto.
